The snipe was activated but no bid was placed. No status is displayed and no email was sent. I set the snipe time to 5 seconds. I'm guessing network lag? Happened several days ago for the first time, just happened again.

If it was a lag, the sniper would put some status.
But since the status is empty, it appears eBay did not respond at all. The sniper tried to resubmit it a few times, but eBay was not responding still.
Seems like some temporary issue on their side which got resolved after that.

These things are extremely rare. And when it happens eBay is usually quick on resolving it.
