Maybe both features could be added in the settings of a future release.

Why would you need this to be auto-started?

1.) I thought its bidding with my IP, but after your question it seems bidding through your servers (why not using user ips?!)
2.) Its easier to access the app to add new auctions as I'm using it constantly. But if there is no benefit I will pin it to the taskbar instead.

User's connection is not reliable enough for this.
Also, if you reboot or shutdown your PC, the sniper would not work.

Of course you could use your cloud as fallback. But as long the client is online, it should use the users ip. By that you will hit less often captchas, too.

Unfortunately, the time syncing on your PC and connection speed is not reliable for sniping.
You can never guarantee speed availability at any specific time compared to a dedicated connection.
There is no time to fallback if your connection is too slow.
There are many more tricks like this.
Btw, it will not solve captcha most of the time too since eBay may add it for various reasons (i.e. when their servers are experiencing high load).
Luckily, the issue with captcha does not happen that often as it was before and it's usually quickly gone when appears.

I'm glad your connection is stable enough for this, but most users can't guarantee it.
I saw many reports on stand-alone sniping software where snipes were failing because of this (check bid-o-matic, jbidwatcher and similar).
