Refused login (password problem?) Thu Nov 28, 2013 04:46 AM Quote

I get this mesaage "Refused login (password problem?)" on EVERY snipe I place that would normally win. This is something that started a couple of weeks ago, and continues today. The last time I was successful at winning a snipe was on 11/06/2013. I do get quite a few "Current bid is higher than your snipe", but those I understand since my snipe was less than the current bid. What I don't understand is why I get "Refused login (password problem?)" on all of the other snipes. Please help

Please always include the item number in question so I could check.

Seems like eBay is asking for additional account verification.
They did not say the reason for it, but it could be one or more of the following:
1. You have some warnings on your account which you need to resolve.
2. You have expired or soon to be expired Credit Card which you need to update.
3. Your password may be not secure enough (too short, contains dictionary words, your name, etc).

None of those reasons are valid. I am a PowerSeller and sell 200+ items a week. There are no warnings on my account, my fees to eBay are automatically paid with a credit card, and there is no issue with the password.

I think there are some warnings on your account when you go to My eBay.
The secure password must be at least 8-9 characters long (or longer).

There are no warnings on my account, and my password is fine since I use it EVERY day to log into eBay

I saw the warning, but if you think this is okay, then it's your choice. I'm just saying the usual reasons why your account may need additional verification from eBay. It may or may not relate to the issue you are having.
Also, it does not matter how often you login using the same password. eBay is constantly enforcing new rules for security of their users. If your password was secure yesterday, it does not mean it will be secure tomorrow. That's why it's important to keep your password secure and change it from time to time.

I changed my eBay password, I changed the credit card on my eBay account, and there are no messages about my eBay account. My bid are snipes are still being rejected. Check item #331077431449.

Thanks

Super. It looks much better now, I see a different flow.
It seems like there is a bug on your account on eBay side. It gives error message after the login process.
I did some work-around meanwhile.

If you'll have the same issue again, please let me know so I can check it again. Or you can try to create a brand new account for sniping purposes, since brand new accounts tend not to have such issues.

k2000,
This is not the same issue. You changed your eBay password, but still used your old login information to login to the sniper.
The sniper can't bid without having your current login information.
I see you re-logged in using your updated login information so you are good now.

eBay had an issue when something triggered captcha loop for many accounts.
The issue was already resolved by eBay. Everything is back to normal since yesterday.
I see snipes are coming through with no issues.

I'm sorry for any snipes it affected.

This is unrelated to the issue above, but I'll answer here so you don't have to look for it.
You recently changed your eBay password, but did not relogin to the sniper using it, so the sniper could not place your bid without having your current login information.

The auction ended at about 2:50a, I see you relogged in using your updated eBay login information at about 6:00a, so you are good for your future snipes.
