Question about security Sun Jul 21, 2013 05:05 PM Quote

I am considering buying myibay, but have concerns about security on my Ebay account.

When I use myibay, How is my Ebay user name and password sent through the Internet, and who has access to it?

Is it sent directly to Ebay through their normal SSL protected log in server or does it go somewhere else first and is it sent securely?

Please describe the process that myibay uses to submit my username and password to Ebay from a security standpoint.

Thank you.

Your login information is transferred using secured channels (SSL) and stored encrypted on the server. It goes directly to eBay SSL pages from the sniper.

If you are still not sure, you can create a brand new eBay account for sniping purposes only. Your eBay account has no financial information anyway.

Right. But if someone has your ebay login information they can make bids on your account which you will be legally liable to pay for.

Theoretically, yes. But practically you are not really obligated that much. Most importantly, you are not losing financially and there is no sensitive information leak such as your PayPal account, bank information, etc.

In any case, all information is store securely in the system and all communications between you and the sniper is done using SSL (even for simple tasks), while communications between sniper and eBay is done using SSL for login attempts, and the rest is done using regular channels (the way how your normal flow works when you use eBay directly).
