I had set a snipe on this item: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330905381166 for $26, but someone else won it at a lower price. Why?

If you check the status of your snipe, you will see the following reason:
"Refused login (password problem?)".

It seems like you changed your eBay password recently, but never logged in to the sniper using your new password.
The sniper can't bid on your behalf without having your current password:

You should always login with your current password to the sniper to keep it in sync.

Thank you for your prompt reply Sashka.

I haven't changed my password and the Windows application starts without complaining.

But, I had changed my username and ebay wasn't letting me login. So, perhaps myibidder should check the login with ebay as well when the app starts?

Myibidder can't check for that. Your account can be blocked if it will check for it constantly.
If you changed your eBay user id, you can't login using this eBay user id into eBay anymore, and so the same thing applies to the sniper.
