Item: 271106489995
My Status: This listing has ended

.. yes, I know :) but without my bid being made. It was set up with just under an hour to go, with a time of six seconds.

The bid was for rather more than the item went for, but there's no evidence that the bid was ever placed.

Interestingly, the quantity is showing as zero and I can't remember if that's always the case when something's failed to win. Two yet-to-be-finished snipes have a quantity of one.

Oops - forgot to say thank you for the service and the various ways of using it. Except when it goes wrong, it's wonderful :)

The status is provided by eBay, they have different wording for the same thing.

You will not see your snipe in the bid history if bidding goes over your snipe amount (i.e. you can't bid $100 on item with current bid $120, eBay would not accept and will not show in the bid history).

Quantity field does not affect sniping. Even though, it's cosmetical, it should be fixed. How did you add the item?

Via the Firefox plugin.

The bid was over £20, the winning bid was under £6 = lots of bid increments available.

I can't remember if I checked it here before the end of the auction, but two other ones done the same way last night look ok.

The only two reasons for this failure I can think of are a) eBay have changed something again - but I'd expect lots of people to be affected and you to know about it - or b) six seconds wasn't, for whatever reason - long enough this time.

I'm sorry, I misread your original statement thinking "the bid was for rather me" is referenced to your snipe.
I checked the logs. There was a network delay around that time and it seems like your snipe was affected by that.

I'm sorry your snipe failed. Although, this is rare, but it may happen. We do our best to minimize such occurrences.

No problem. It's obviously annoying when something like this happens, but overall this site has been very, very useful.

Thanks again.
