Is withdrawing bids legal? Thu Oct 30, 2008 02:53 PM Quote

From what I can read in ebay's policies, sniping is legal but withdrawing bids is not (except in very particular cases). The way I understand the 'group' function in myibay,if I snipe a group of auctions and win one, myibay cancels the bids on the remaining auctions. Can ebay penalize me for withdrawing bids illegally using this software?

Your "Snipe" is not your actual bid until the last seconds.
Your "Snipe" is your future bid which was schedule for bidding.
It's like you are thinking about bidding, but changed your mind before you actually placed your bid.
Changing your mind is not a bad thing.

That's one of the advantages of sniping -- your bid is not placed until the last seconds and you can always cancel if you found something else on another auction without being penalized by eBay.

So, as I understand it, you never actually place a bid with the snipe software until the last few seconds of the auction; that makes me feel better about the whole process. I really don't want to deal with winning two or three of the same item and having to re-sell the extras to recoup some of my costs.

That's correct.

Please make sure that you specify a limit of items when do you want to stop:

Sometimes i have entered several snipes on different items and do not have the items grouped on ebay. It would be nice to have a button that you could use to cancel all remaing snipes or even better show existing snipes all at once and allow for increased bids change in price and time.

That can be done easy by using our Windows application.
Just sort it by column and delete selected items, or change your snipe right in the cell.

The Web-interface has more limitations due to different browsers.
You can also do a search if those items has something in common.
